Filings opened Tuesday for candidates seeking their party’s nomination in the August Primary.
Filing the first day were incumbents Don Troutman, county clerk, Democrat; Marci Mosley, circuit clerk, Republican; Fred Stenger, presiding commissioner, Republican; Michael Anderson, prosecutor, Republican; and Doug Gaston, associate circuit judge. Susan Warkentin, recorder of deeds, a Republican, filed Friday, as did Parke Stevens Jr. for county prosecutor.
A race for the 8th Congressional District is ensured. U.S. Rep. Jason Smith, a Salem Republican; Doug Enyart, Piedmont, Constitution Party; and Barbara Stocker, a Silva Democrat, filed.
Rep. Robert Ross, R-Yukon, filed for re-election.
The deadline to file is March 25.
