The Houston Tigers are off to the program’s best start in four seasons.
With a 50-37 victory Wednesday afternoon against New Covenant in the consolation bracket of the Mansfield Invitational, HHS has won back-to-back games for the first time in four seasons.
The Tigers (3-2), who beat Stoutland in double overtime Tuesday, also have a winning record for the first time since February 2010. That HHS team, coached by Brent Hall, was 10-9 after winning six games in a row.
Devin Coulter scored 18 points to lead three players in double figures against New Covenant. Aaron Cantrell scored 15 and Kolby Walker added 13.
Cantrell had a team-best 17 rebounds and four blocked shots for HHS. Coulter, who is 66 points shy of 1,000 career points, had five steals.
On Tuesday, Coulter scored a season-best 25 points and Cantrell and Walker had 14 each in a 66-65 victory at Stoutland.
