The family of a man who died in 2010 after being held in the Texas County Jail is suing county government in U.S. District Court.
James S. Young, 37, died in September 2010 after he was found unresponsive in a cell. He died later that day at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
Karen Young, his widow, filed the suit seeking damages from Texas County government, several current and former employees, as well as the county sheriff’s department.
The lawsuit alleges that James Young overdosed on prescription medicine, had numerous health issues and he failed to get proper care while being held on a burglary charge. Â According to the court filing, Young had sent a written suicide note a week before his death.
