A boil water advisory was issued Tuesday for a small area on West Highway 17 after line repairs were completed.

Updated 7:44 a.m.: A top City of Houston official said early Friday that a boil-water order for the community likely won’t be lifted until Tuesday by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

City Administrator Larry Sutton said sampling results won’t likely be known until Tuesday. A positive test outcome is required after a 2 a.m. Thursday water line break at Grand Avenue and Spruce Street. It was a 10-inch line near the Texas County Justice Center.

Sutton said the city is working with the state to move the sampling to a lab nearby to get an early lifting. On Friday, it wasn’t known if that would occur.

Art Thomas, the city’s emergency management director, said the city is in contact with the American Red Cross, which has water distribution equipment. The State Emergency Management Agency also has been contacted.

The nation’s largest retailer deployed water to its Houston Walmart Supercenter on Thursday evening through an emergency request.
