The annual KZ88 Black Friday parade is set for this Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. Organizers claim that it is the largest Black Friday parade in the entire world and so far no one has disputed that.
It is a virtual parade with real participants. It is best seen on the radio, although a broadcast booth will be set up in front of the KZ88 studio – at 1211 Ozark St. in Cabool – for anyone who would like a better view.
This year, several high school choirs will be in the parade as well as area high school bands. Participating schools include Houston, Licking, Mountain Grove, Willow Springs, Mountain View-Birch Tree and Seymour. Some area businesses will also have floats in the imaginary parade as well.
The largest float ever in the parade was from a real estate company. It consisted of a 13-acre meadow complete with spring fed pond and a milking barn. The tallest was from another community radio station and featured a 90.7-foot tower made entirely of facial tissues. Parade officials hope this year will be largely problem-free after last year’s incidents with a helium leak and the chef who accidentally set fire to the kitchen while making rum cake.
The parade can be heard live on KZ88 community radio, 88.1 FM. It will also be streamed online at kz88.org.
Everyone at the station thanks the participating schools and students for being a part of this holiday tradition.
