A Cabool man died Saturday night from injuries sustained the previous evening when he was passing another vehicle in Phelps County and lost control on wet pavement, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Dead is Michael R. Johnson, 22 of Cabool. He died in a Columbia hospital.
Tpr. Jacob Sellers said a 1999 Oldsmobile driven northbound by Johnson, 22, then struck a southbound 2006 Ford Explorer driven by Evalena F. Wyble, 48, of Beulah. Wyble’s vehicle than struck a northbound 2006 GMC bucket truck driven by Jackie L. Grimm, 42, of Fulton. (which Johnson had attempted to pass).
Johnson was taken to Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. Wyble also was transported there with moderate injuries. Both of their vehicles were totaled, Sellars said.
Sellars said it was not know whether Johnson was wearing a seat belt; the other two were buckled in the mishap near Yancy Mills on U.S. 63.
