The City of Cabool received $198,285 from MFH’s Healthy & Active Communities (H&AC) funding initiative. H&AC targets community-based organizations reaching populations at increased risk of developing obesity, including women and children, racial and ethnic groups and low-income individuals and families.
Funding helps the Texas County community construct exercise trails, work with local organizations to promote wellness and exercise programs and improve walkability and bikability of the area.
Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains received $10,000 through MFH’s Mental Health & Substance Abuse (MHSA) program. MHSA supports nonprofits’ efforts to assist patients experiencing “co-occurring” mental illness and substance abuse disorders. Funding helps the organization integrate co-occurring disorder treatment into its existing patient programs.
The local grants are part of a $5.7 million round of funding recently approved by MFH’s board.
