Two West Plains women were seriously injured Sunday night in a crash just west of Cabool after swerving to miss a dog.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Shelby J. Trulson, 24, was traveling eastbound when she attempted to miss the animal, struck a tree, overturned and came to rest on its side. Trulson was partially ejected, said Cpl. E.A. Cooper.
Trulson was transported by a medical helicopter to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. A passenger, Sandra J. Harris, 22, was also taken to St. John’s Hospital. Troopers said Harris was wearing a seat belt. It was unknown whether the driver had a safety device on.
Cooper said the vehicle was totaled.
