The Houston City Council will appoint a committee to review and clarify policies related to hangar responsibilities at the Houston Memorial Airport.
The decision came during a short meeting Monday.
The committee will review hangar ownership and lease issues to develop a policy that is understood by both hangar users and the city, said City Administrator Larry Sutton.
In other matters, members:
-Approved a plan outlined by Evans Funeral Home owner Shawn Brown to establish a crematorium business. Brown addressed the council related to the proposal, and the funeral home will move to a design phase following the city’s okay. There are no immediate plans for an opening, he said.
-Okayed vacating an easement for Blue Bell Lane in the Lilllyview Addition. The land will revert to property owners.
-Adjourned into a closed session to discuss ongoing negotiations related to water rights for the planned development of the North Industrial Park east of the fairgrounds on North U.S. 63. The city, which has no immediate prospect, is attempting to construct infrastructure to the site.
-Learned that the city’s correctional workforce is about to tackle a big project: painting all of the fireplugs that need sprucing up.
