A Cabool man charged in the death of a 4-year-old child in November 2008 has had his trial delayed.

Daniel D. Lamborn is charged with abuse of a child resulting in death. He was to stand trial on a change of venue in Phelps County in December, but the trial date has been postponed to April 26-28.

Lamborn gave authorities multiple accounts of the moments leading to Camille F. Denis’ Nov. 22 death, Sgt. Travis Davis of the Texas County Sheriff’s Department said in a probably cause statement. He initially told Davis that a large toy box had fallen on the girl’s chest.

An autopsy revealed a laceration to the child’s heart. When confronted with the information, Davis said Lamborn admitted he had lied about the toy box, Davis said. Lamborn gave several accounts, including tossing the girl in the air, stepping on her and falling on her with his forearm before requesting an attorney, according to the report.
