The Missouri Department of Transportation began performing drainage work Tuesday on U.S. 63.

Drainage work keeps the roadway dry and maintains stability and proper drainage of water from the travel lanes, MoDOT said. Work is from Highway B to the Phelps County line.

Also this week, MoDOT crews:

—Repaired shoulders on Highway B from the intersection of U.S. 63 to the intersection of Highway 137.

—Closed a railroad crossing on Highway 181 in Cabool as Burlington Northern Railroad performed work. The closure is south of Main St. — four-tenths of a mile north of U.S. 63 — Tuesday through Friday.
