Taylor Franklin scored 14 points and Alissa Bowlin added 12 to lead the Houston eight grade girls’ basketball team past Willow Springs 40-4 in Monday’s season opener.
Sierra Weaver had five points and Tyanna Bisker scored four for Houston, which led by 16 points after one quarter and 26-3 at the half.
“Our athleticism, fullcourt pressure and man-to-man defense really hurt them,” Houston coach John Jordan said.
Kylee Elmore scored a team-best nine points for the seventh grade girls, who lost 42-26 to Willow Springs.
Megan Silveus had seven points and Olivia Woosley added four for the Lady Tigers, who trailed 16-5 after the first quarter.
“We had difficulty finding our man on defense, and they were much more aggressive and kicked our tails in the rebounding department,” Jordan said.
