Fire departments in Texas County are in the process of updating their boundary lines. The Texas County Fire Chiefs Association discussed the matter during a meeting last week at the Houston fire station.

Personnel with Wri-Tex 911 showed a fire districts map that they have on file. Rueben Roedeske, secretary, reported that those attending said the map was out-of-date and needed to be updated. Most departments reported that they were close to finalizing their district lines. Wri-Tex 911 will revise its map when the districts finish their work, Roedeske said.

In other matters, members:

-Heard from Janice Travis of the American Red Cross who thanked volunteer fire departments for their efforts. She gave a presentation on Red Cross services that are provided.

-Learned that representatives of Arroll plan to form a volunteer fire department. They have set district lines with Clear Springs, Summersville and Tyrone.

-Heard that a basic firefighter skills class was set to begin Thursday, Oct. 8, at Houston.
