A Houston man is charged with an assault of a Houston High School student on campus last week.

Officers charged Larry O. Hornbeck, 20, of 317 Skyview Terrace, on the attack of the student on Sept. 15. A 17-year-old student sustained abrasions on both hands, his left arm and left shoulder, as well as a contusion to his left eye. He was taken to the school nurse’s office.

Hornbeck was instructed not to return to school property. The motive was a dispute over Hornbeck’s former girlfriend, police said.

In other matters, police:

-Cited Katherine S. Ash, 50, of Cuba, with stealing under $500 following a shoplifting incident Sept. 17 at Houston Wal-Mart. Merchandise totaling $149 was taken.

-Arrested Amy E. Dyer, 24, on a felony Texas County warrant charging with failure to return rental property – $500 or more. She posted $10,000 bond on Sept. 17.

-Charged Madge A. Anderson, 34, of 140 S. Oak Crest Dr., with third-degree assault following a custody dispute on Sept. 18.

-Arrested Charles J. Smith, 21, of 200 E. Chestnut, on a Texas County warrant for failing to appear on two traffic-related charges. He posted $2,000 bond on Sept. 21.

-Cited Joshua A. Ford, 18, of 919 Thomasville Road, with property damage and peace disturbance following an incident at a Spruce Street apartment complex on Sept. 8. Police said he had kicked in a door as part of a dispute related to money.
