The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is sponsoring a free refresher course for drivers ages 50 and older.

The training seminar is 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Texas County Memorial Hospital. Participants will learn current rules of the road, how to operate their vehicles more safety, the effects of medications on driving and how to adjust their driving to suit common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.

Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety Regional Coordinator Kelly Martin said she hopes seniors take part in this free offer.

“This is a great opportunity for our senior drivers to hone their driving skills and make Missouri’s roadways safer,” Martin said.

Seniors who take part in the training will not only learn useful skills, but may be eligible for discounts on their auto insurance.

AARP membership is not required to take the course, and there is no final test to pass.

Space is limited and there is no tuition fee this year. To make a reservation, contact Martin at 888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636).
