Texas County’s unemployment rate inched up slightly in July and remains one of the lowest in a 12-county area in south-central Missouri, the Missouri Department of Economic Development said.
The figure was 8.8 percent, which is an increase of two-tenths of a percentage point from June. The average in the region was 9.2 percent, the state said.
Area counties and their jobless rates: Douglas, 9.2; Howell, 9.3; Shannon, 10.6; and Wright, 9.9. Reynolds County had the highest unemployment figure in the region: 12.7 percent.
