Final preparations are under way for the annual Miss Texas County Scholarship Pageant.
Thirty girls from across the area will compete Saturday in the annual event. The Tiny, Little, Petite and PreTeen competitions begin at 1 p.m. inside the community building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds. The Outstanding Teen and Miss Texas County titles will be decided beginning at 6 p.m.
The younger girls will compete in four categories: private interview, on-stage question, talent and party dress. The older contestants will compete in private interview, on-stage question, talent and lifestyle/physical fitness. Talents among both groups include piano, dance, singing, flute and guitar performances.
Winners in the afternoon show will receive savings bonds. Scholarships will be awarded to the new Miss Texas County and Outstanding Teen. Scholarships are supported by The Bank of Houston, Landmark Bank, Progressive Ozark Bank, I.O.O.F. #372, Gentry Construction, V.I.P. Properties and Delbert and Elaine Campbell.
The Miss Texas County pageant is a preliminary pageant to the Miss Missouri/Miss America. The new Miss Texas County and Miss Texas County Outstanding Teen will compete next year for the state titles in Mexico, Mo.
