Sales taxes collected by merchants in Texas County dipped during the last monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
Retailers collect three half-cent sales taxes in the county. One is for general operations, a second for maintenance and a third for debt repayment on the county justice center. Each contributed about $66,000, which was a decrease of about $2,000 on each.
In the first seven months of the year, about $526,000 on each has been generated. That’s down about 3 percent from the same period a year ago.
