The Roby Fire Department will receive money for equipment and gear through a matching grant program.

The Missouri Department of Conservation Forestry Division staff is distributing checks in June, July and August as part of the Volunteer Fire Assistance Fire Department Matching Grant Program. One hundred seventy-seven fire departments will receive checks of up to $3,000 to help with the purchase of personal protective gear and firefighting equipment for wildfire as well as structure fires.

The total funding for fire department matching grants this year is $381,159. Fire departments within Missouri’s Ozark region will receive a total of $33,416.

Roby will use its funds to purchase radios, chain saws, blowers and Wildland safety helmets.

Fire departments are required to match the funds, which are provided by the U.S. Forest Service and the Missouri Conservation Department.
