About 450 people watched Saturday at Raymondville as 49 trucks participated in a pull.
Including the hometown class and 10 mini-rods, there were seven classes. The event is held twice annually to offset costs incurred by the Raymondville Fire Department and reduce membership fees, said Guy Ceplina, Raymondville fire chief. Volunteers from several organizations and the Houston and Tyrone fire departments also assisted.
Those who live within the department’s boundaries can be start paying dues at the Raymondville Picnic, which is planned for June 18-20. They can also be mailed.
