Revenue from sales taxes collected by Texas County merchants decreased during the latest monthly distribution, sending the tally down for the year, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The tally from three half-cent sales was about $75,000 for each, which is down more than $3,000 each from the same period a year ago.
For the first three quarters of the year, each has generated about $720,000. That’s down more than $2,400 on each sales tax, the state said.
Texas County has a general sales tax that has been on the books since the 1980s. The other two are for debt repayment on the county justice center and general operations.
