A district that aims to reduce solid waste and encourage recycling will receive $111,231 for its efforts, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources said last week.
The district, which includes Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas and Wright counties, is among 20 in the state receiving money for the fourth quarter of the state fiscal year 2008.
The funds pay for operational costs, administration of activities related to implementation of the district’s plan and grants to cities and counties. In Houston, the funds have previously aided recycling efforts.
