Intercounty Electric Cooperative in Licking will refund about $1.7 million in capital credits to its membership in June, it announced Tuesday.

The credits represent the cooperative’s margins or monies remaining at the end of the year after all of its bills are paid.

The distribution is based on the amount of electricity purchased by members.

Since 1988, Intercounty has returned about $16 million.

The capital credits refunded this year are for 1993.

Intercounty said it is important that it have a correct address for members. Capital credits do not normally have to be reported for tax purposes, it said.
