Nine southwest Missouri counties, including Texas, have been approved for public assistance to repair roads, bridges and other critical facilities for damage sustained during last month’s floods.
Christian, Crawford, Dallas, Laclede, Pulaski, Stone, Taney, Texas and Webster counties were declared disaster areas and approved for assistance by President George W. Bush.
Gov. Matt Blunt made the request.
“The damage assessment teams identified over $28.5 million in damaged public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and critical facilities,” Blunt said in a statement.
The State Emergency Management Agency will soon notify local officials about how to apply for public assistance funds and begin repairing flood-damaged infrastructure.
