The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations said Tuesday employers in Texas County may request an extension to file their unemployment insurance tax reports and pay the contributions due at the end of May.

That is as a result of the presidential disaster declaration declared on April 1 and April 2

To request an extension until May 31, employers must make the request in writing or by electronic request through the Unemployment State Tax Automated Reporting (USTAR) system.

The request must be submitted by the employer prior to or along with the first quarter 2008 report. Written requests may be submitted to the address listed on the contribution and wage report or to P.O Box 59, Attention: Employer Accounts Unit, Jefferson City, Mo., 65104.

Requests may be submitted electronically through USTAR at https://www.ustar.dolir.mo.gov/ustar. Employers who have questions concerning these requests should call the division of employment security at 573-751-1995.
