Filings close tomorrow for several county, state and federal posts that will be filled in elections later this year.
Here is the list:
Rueben Roedeske of Tyrone is seeking the Democratic nomination for District 2 county commissioner. He faces Linda Miller of Licking, who filed earlier. Linda Garrett, the Republican incumbent, is seeking re-election.
Sharon Rees of Houston and John Casey of Simmons are seeking the Republican nomination for Texas County associate commissioner District I. Filing on the Democratic Ticket was David D. Adkison for the spot.
Steven H. Lawhead of Licking and Matt Thompson of Cabool are seeking the Republican nomination for sheriff. Texas County Sheriff Carl Watson, a Democrat, filed earlier.
Shalena Purcell and Terry Kell, both Raymondville Democrats, filed for county assessor. Seeking the Republican nomination is the incumbent, Debbie James of Solo, and Lynn Cheek of Houston.
Also seeking re-election are Public Administrator Theresa Campbell, Coroner Thomas Whittaker, Treasurer-Collector Tammy Cantrell and Surveyor Louie Carmack Jr. All are Democrats. None has garnered opposition.
In Jefferson City, both representatives for Texas County refiled. They are Rep. Don Wells, R-Cabool; and Sen. Chuck Purgason, R-Caulfield. Eric Reeve of Macks Creek will oppose Purgason on the Democratic Ticket.
In the 8th Congressional District, Joe Allen, a Wright County native who is a lawyer at Forsyth, filed on the Democratic Ticket. The incumbent, Jo Ann Emerson, a Republican, filed last week.
Statewide, voters will elect a governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state treasurer and attorney general.
