Texas County farmers are eligible for emergency loans after nasty weather received in the area, said Tim Kelley, state executive director of the Farm Service Agency.
Applications are available at the county office of the Farm Service Agency, 6726 U.S. 63, Suite A, in Houston.
Loans for physical losses must be used to replace or repair damage to buildings, fences or to compensate the farmer for losses of basic livestock, stored crops or supplies on hand, equipment, etc.
To qualify, a farmer must have suffered an actual loss that was essential to the successful operation of the farm.
Loans for actual losses are made at a 3.75 percent interest rate for emergency loans to eligible applicants who can’t receive credit needed from another source.
