Texas County ranked second in the state beginning the second week of the spring firearms turkey season, the Missouri Department of Conservation reported.
The tally was 453 birds, which was 51 behind the leader, Franklin County. Callaway County — with 395 — was third.
The breakdown in Texas County was: 389, adult gobblers; five, bearded hens; and 59, juvenile gobbler.
