The Houston volleyball team is streaking in the right direction entering conference play.
The Lady Tigers topped Plato 25-22, 25-11 last Tuesday and rallied past Conway 25-20, 25-11 on Thursday for their second and third straight victories.
Houston (5-3-1) has won all three of its matches in straight sets since losing three of four at the Branson Invitational. The Lady Tigers were 5-0 in the regular season entering Tuesday night’s South Central Association opener at Cabool.
“The girls are all so encouraging and supportive of each other,” HHS coach Barry Wheeler said. “They really are a special group of young ladies.”
Houston trailed Conway 16-12 in the opening set before scoring eight unanswered points. Senior Sarah Kelley had two aces during the rally.
The Lady Tigers carried the momentum into the second set by scoring 15 of the first 17 points and cruising to the victory.
Alyssa Hayes had seven kills and Kelley added six. Camryn Scheets had 12 assists and Kelley accounted for four of the team’s eight aces.
Against Plato, Abby Casper led the way with six kills. Scheets had team highs of four aces and 11 assists.
