Gladys Elaine Reese Cunningham, 90, passed away Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017.

She was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Mountain View, daughter of Fred and Alma Elizabeth Beck Reese. She and Oscar Benjamin Cunningham were married Jan. 3, 1946. He passed away in 2011.

She attended school and graduated from Birch Tree. She taught in rural schools until she met he husband, Oscar.

She and Oscar served the Lord for many years, beginning in 1956 in Home Missions in Ava. They were also part of American Sunday School Missions for many years, held revivals and taught Bible schools throughout Missouri.

The Cunninghams owned and operated Camp J-O-Y (Jesus Others and You) Bible Camp for many years.

She enjoyed putting puzzles together, keeping up with family genealogy and keeping in contact with her many friends.

She preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, her parents; two sisters, Nadine Payne and Pauline Carr; and a brother, Floyd “Bill” Reese.

Survivors include three children, Dewayne Cunningham of Greenfield, Barbara Chapman of Ozark and Joyce Crumpley of Springfield; two sisters, Vera Shandy and Nita Achenbach of Marshfield; 16 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren nieces, nephews and other family members.

Graveside services were Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, with the Rev. Don Baeir officiating. Services were under the care of Bradford Funeral Home.
