David Roy Owens (Yogi), 76, of Bucyrus, Missouri, passed away Jan. 6, 2024 at his daughter’s home. Yogi was born Feb. 18, 1947, to Lester Owens and Hilda (Beplate) Owens in Colfax, Washington.

Yogi was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and “pickalow” (papa). He graduated from Potlatch High in 1965. After graduating high school, Yogi held a few jobs in the Potlatch, Idaho area, including the Emerald Creek Garnet Mine. While working at Wilkes Logging, he met and fell in love with Leona Hunt, and the two were married Dec. 18, 1981.

Yogi and Leona later moved to Yukon, Missouri, where he worked at Rawlings in Licking; Evans Sawmill, Raymondville; and lastly at McClain Forest Products, Raymondville.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Hilda Owens. Surviving is his wife Leona Owens, of the home, two children: Susan Reaves and David Owens, both of Elsberry, Missouri, eight grandchildren; two brothers, Duane and wife, Potlatch, Idaho; and Raymond and wife, of Santa, Idaho; along with one sister, MaryAnn and husband, Potlatch, Idaho.

David was cremated per his wishes. Services were held this summer in Potlatch, Idaho.
