The Texas County Livestock Fair begins Tuesday, July 9, at the fairgrounds on North U.S. 63. It is sponsored by the Texas County Fair Board.

TUESDAY, JULY 9: Here is the schedule: horticulture, field crops, ag mechanics and home economics check-in is 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The rabbit check-in is 8 to 11 a.m. Poultry arrives 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Youth and Open Rabbit Show is at 5 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10: Market goats, lambs, hogs, steers and replacement heifers check-in from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. (Must be in place by 4 p.m.) The poultry show starts at 8 a.m. The poultry rabbit showmanship following the poultry show.

Market goats, lambs, hogs, steers and heifers weigh-in and ultrasound at 5 p.m. Order for weigh-in and ultrasound: Goats, lambs, hogs, steers, replacement heifers – weigh only.

Tractor check-in is noon until 4 p.m.

THURSDAY, JULY 11: Breeding beef and dairy cattle, swine, meat and dairy goats, breeding sheep check-in at 7 to 11 a.m. Sheep show at 3 p.m. Meat goat show following sheep show. Market rabbit, poultry, sheep and goat exhibitor pictures following the goat show. Sheep, goat and bottle calf fashion show following pictures.

FRIDAY, JULY 12: Swine show at 8 a.m. Beef show follows swine show. Market steer exhibitor pictures follows beef show. Dairy cattle show at 4 p.m. Dairy goat show follows dairy cattle. Market swine exhibitor pictures following dairy goat show. Horticulture, field crops, agriculture production, home economics check-out 5 to 6 p.m. Tractor show at 6 p.m.

SATURDAY, JULY 13: Awards ceremony at 10 a.m. Tractor show at 11 a.m. MU Extension presentation at 11 a.m. A farmer appreciation dinner is noon to 1 p.m. The annual livestock sale starts at 2 p.m.

Chamber demolition derby planned

The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the “Show Me Smash,” a demolition derby, at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the chamber grandstands on North U.S. 63. The cost is adults ($10) and children 6 to 12 ($5). The categories listed are: full-size bonestock, full-size superstock, lawn mower and youth compact.
