The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy was dispatched March 11 regarding a report of animal abuse at a Dewitt Drive residence at Hartshorn.
A 67-year-old woman there showed the officer a cow that allegedly had half of its tail cut off by neighbors. She also showed the deputy a cat that was missing fur on its tail, and said she believed the same people were to blame and had caught the cat in some sort of trap.
Investigation is ongoing.
•A deputy on March 20 investigated a report of a burglary at a Kitchen Drive trailer park at Licking.
A 25-year-old woman and 23-year-old man there told the officer someone broke into their residence and stole numerous items with a total value of $2,550. Neighbors said they had seen an unfamiliar black Chevrolet pickup with two men in it back up to the residence, but didn’t recall what time the truck had shown up.
Investigation continues.
•A deputy was dispatched March 2 to the Crow Creek Bar at Licking regarding a report of damage to a vehicle in the parking lot.
A man there showed the officer his 2008 Ford Explorer that had a broken windshield, a dented hood and muddy footprints on it. The incident was caught by a video surveillance camera, and a 19-year-old Licking man was identified as the suspect. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.
•A deputy was advised on March 19 that a 36-year-old Houston woman had called and made a threat that she and her brother were going to come to the Texas County Justice Center and confront the prosecuting attorney and burn the building down. The officer noted in a report that the woman was not considered a real threat because she is incarcerated in a mental health facility in St. Louis.
•A 69-year-old Summerville woman reported on March 19 that several tools with a total value of $1,305 had been swiped from a shed at her Harlow Road property. There are no suspects.
