Enrollment figures were nearly unchanged from the first day in 2018, a survey shows.

First-day enrollment at Texas County schools was nearly unchanged from the start of the year in 2018, according to figures released from area districts.

There were 3,870 students in classrooms for the first day of classes. That compares to 3,888 on the first day in 2018.

Plato was the only district of the county’s seven that showed an increase. There were 47 more in classrooms this year.

At Houston, the headcount was down 20 from last year’s first day. The breakdown showed: pre-school age, 50; kindergarten – fifth grade, 379; middle school, 242; and high school 346.

Success’ census dropped five. Summersville had 439 students, dropping five.

Cabool’s enrollment was 724, which was a decrease of 23. Raymondville was unchanged at 150.

Licking had 10 fewer students.
