Two Texas County projects are among those included in a five-year draft of work in the south central district of the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Plans call for resurfacing U.S. 63 north of Houston from Highway E to Highway B. The 2.73-mile project is scheduled for 2011.
Paving work on U.S. 63 from Highway RA to U – a distance of 12.15 miles – also is planned in 2011.
The draft of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP), which details work to be pursued in fiscal years 2009 through 2013 (July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2013), is available online at www.modot.org. Residents also may visit the Missouri Department of Transportation office in Willow Springs to receive a hard copy.
Feedback is welcome during the formal public comment period, which ends June 27. MoDOT customer service representatives are available to take comments or provide answers to questions. The MoDOT Customer Service Center may be reached by phone, toll-free, at 888-ASK MoDOT (275-6636) or e-mail at d9csc@modot.mo.gov.
Projects across the state outlined in the STIP total $5.78 billion, with approximately $4.35 billion going to 662 highway and bridge projects, about $790 million to other transportation modes and approximately $640 million to local transportation programs.
Projects are selected through a prioritization process, which partners MoDOT with state and regional planning partners. In this area, that is the South Central Ozarks Council of Governments.
