Representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency have extended the number of days they plan to stay in Texas County to meet with individuals and businesses that sustained damage after a May 8 storm.
County Presiding Commissioner Don Shelhammer announced Monday morning that the agency will remain in the county at the justice center until Friday. The office was set to close Tuesday after opening on July 15.
The visit is triggered by a presidential disaster declaration that included Texas County. High winds slammed the county, downing trees, damaging structures and leaving many without electricity.
Those planning to attend at the Texas County Justice Center multi-purpose room are required to register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or call 800-621-3362.
