The Piney River Convey Quail Forever chapter is hosting a youth bird hunt Oct. 10 at the Cackle Creek Upland Hunting Ranch near Licking. Sportsman Joe Richardson II also will be recognized.
The event is open for youth ages 11 to 17 who have successfully completed a hunter certification class. Participants will learn about and participate in skeet shooting, bird hunting behind pointing dogs, proper care of game harvested and see some quality quail habitat.
Richardson, a retired businessman who lives in Houston, will be honored at noon for his generous contributions throughout the years to sportsmen’s organizations in the county.
