Students at Raymondville School were recently treated to a new road safety education program – Buckle Buddy – to assist children in developing safe passenger restraint habits at an early age.
The Buckle Buddy dragon character was developed by the South Central Missouri Regional Coalition for Roadway Safety. The program was designed to be educational, interactive and fun. About 40 Raymondville students learned about proper seatbelt and booster seat use and received a certificate of completion from Buckle Buddy.
South Central Certified Appraiser Lisa Durnell, who presented Buckle Buddy to the Raymondville Elementary students, said the program went well.
“All of the communications materials were very well received, and the kids loved everything about it,” she said.
South Central Regional Coalition Coordinator Kelly Martin said she hopes the new program continues to be a success with students.
“We have received excellent feedback from schools so far,” Martin said. “We hope that the children also share their knowledge at home.”
