The Texas County Health Department announced the schedule Tuesday for flu shot clinics amid signs that the H1N1 influenza has arrived in the county.
Officials said the department has had one lab-confirmed Influenza A reported in the county. “We are outside the traditional seasonal flu season, so it’s assumed this lab confirmed Influenza A case is H1N1,” said Carolyn Bell, R.N., of the county health department.
It is anticipated that following clinical trials, the first shipments of H1N1 vaccine are expected to reach Houston in mid to late October.
Annual flu clinics in the county begin Oct. 1.
Here is the schedule:
-9 a.m. until noon Oct. 1 at Houston Senior Center.
-8:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 2 at Cabool Senior Center.
-3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at Roby Community Building.
-8 to 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at Licking Bridge Builders.
-3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 6 at Raymondville Community Building.
“Getting an annual seasonal flu shot is one of the best ways people can protect themselves against getting the flu,” Bell said.
