Joyce Deeds of Mountain Grove was recently named Texas County Memorial Hospital’s September employee of the month.
Deeds, a registered nurse with TCMH Home Health of the Ozarks, has been employed in the home health department since 2004 and at TCMH since 1999.
“Joyce is known for taking care of the ‘whole’ patient, not just focusing on the patients’ nursing needs,” said Martha Kirkman, Home Health of the Ozarks nurse manager.
Kirkman noted that Deeds has been known to do “above and beyond” duties, such as milking a patient’s goat, decorating for holidays in homes, placing many phone calls to help a blind patient that needed special assistance and shoveling snow for a home wheelchair ramp.
“Joyce deals with many different patients and types of situation, and she is very good in determining how to deal with each,” Kirkman said, adding that Deeds is “very thorough in her thinking and planning” for patients.
As employee of the month, Deeds received a certificate honoring her achievement; a pin; $100 cash; a special parking place in the TCMH lot; one day of paid vacation; a membership in the TCMH Fitness Center; a $50 gift card; a gift certificate to D&L Florist; and CD of the month from KUNQ.
A reception is planned at the hospital in honor of Deeds, who is eligible for the 2009 TCMH employee of the year award.
