The Back to School Fair continues until 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Texas County Back to School Fair and Parents as Teachers Health and Safety Fair will occur 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, (today) in the community building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds.

Families that have signed up at their school for the event will have backpacks filled with supplies ready for to be picked up.  There will also be backpacks with school supplies available for families that haven’t signed up.  

The Parents as Teachers Health and Safety Fair will include numerous vendors:

•Texas County Health Department.

•Texas County Memorial Hospital.

•Texas County Sheriff’s Department.

•Texas County Office of Emergency Management/City of Houston Office of Emergency Management.

•Wal-Mart Vision Center.

•Houston Lions Club vision screening.

•Houston Masonic Lodge (digital fingerprinting and photos).

•Christos House (parenting information).

•Wal-Mart Pharmacy.

•Forbes Pharmacy.

•First Baptist Church – Houston – Awanas Club.

•MPACT (Resources for parents and students with special needs).

•Texas County Salvation Army (books for children).

•Texas County Food Pantry (vouchers for clothing, shoes and more).

•Family Dentistry.

•City of Houston Fire Department.

•Ozark Action.

•University of Missouri Extension 4-H (Texas County).

•University of Missouri Extension Food and Nutrition Programs.

•CASA of South Central Missouri.

•Texas County Library.

•Texas County Emergency Services (911).

•Houston Police Department.

•Houston Schools Parents as Teachers.

•Ozark Baptist Church.

•Houston Barber Shop.
